Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. The EP was where she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she released new music through the internet including Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to work with Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On the 21st of October in 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, on November 13, she released two additional singles, titled No One and Pdigree. She was featured with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later she released the song as a single by herself on her first album. In February of 2019 a music video was released for the song. It already has over 3 million views on YouTube in its first week. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
